10th Anniversary Excellence Award Dinner: Hospice and Palliative Care

The DEOLC 2010 Excellence Award in Hospice and Palliative Care will be awarded to a Delaware physician, nurse, bereavement counselor or health care professional for their outstanding service, dedication and commitment to quality of care at end-of-life. We invite you to join us for the presentation of this prestigious award.

Guest Speaker: Dr. David Casarett, noted physician, author, researcher, and tenured professor at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Dr. Casarett will discuss his latest book, "Last Acts: Discovering Possibility and Opportunity at the End of Life" and will share the compelling stories of the many patients he has cared for in 10 years as a hospice and palliative care physician. He will discuss ways that people can better understand their end-of-life choices and decisions. Join us for an Evening of Special Recognition for those that deliver excellence in End-of-Life Care.

DEOLC invites you to attend their 2nd Annual Grief Awareness Festival.  This free festival includes art activities, grief education and resources, and opportunities to commemorate those we love. Meet local authors and experts on grief, and listen to the hopeful, comforting music of John Flynn who will be performing live in concert. Those of all ages experiencing any type of loss are welcome. DEOLC and the Mental Health Association in Delaware invite you to attend the 12th Annual National Survivors of Suicide Day Program, Saturday, November 20, 2010 at two locations in Delaware: Newark, DE and Milford, DE. This is a day of healing for survivors of suicide loss around the world when 250 simultaneous conferences will be held for survivors This unique network of healing conferences helps survivors connect with others who have survived the tragedy of suicide loss, and express and understand the powerful emotions they experience.
Each conference site is organized locally, but they’re all connected in spirit as participants across the globe watch a special 90-minute DVD together. Refreshments will be served. Registration is recommended.
